you get them doing challenges, special awards, and gifts
not sure if you can actually buy them yourself, except for the limited edition ones
if you want to do challenges you need to get a vip subscription

i dont think you can buy limited edition for yourself
you get pets special rewards from flowplay, doing challenges and gifts from others
